Our latest press release:
AURELIO GRISANTY CHALLENGES MTV’S JERSEY SHORE: “THE ‘REAL JERSEY SHORE’ IS LOVELY, HISTORIC, FUN, AND CLASSY.”
OCEAN CITY, Md. — Many people think they know coastal New Jersey from the outrageous stereotypes portrayed in the MTV reality show Jersey Shore. Internationally acclaimed artist Aurelio Grisanty, who has spent months traveling around the beaches of New Jersey gathering inspiration for his Beach Town Posters, wants the world to know the “real Jersey Shore.”
“When I visit the Jersey shore, I see majestic lighthouses, historical homes, stunning beaches and wildlife sanctuaries, great live music and food, and towns where generations of families share wonderful memories,” says the noted painter and graphic artist. “It’s truly unfortunate that MTV chose to portray the New Jersey shore in a negative light, because that’s not the ‘real’ Jersey shore.”
Grisanty has completed 7 New Jersey-themed images for his ongoing series of Beach Town Posters, and plans to add more Jersey Shore towns to the collection. So far, the series includes Cape May, Long Beach Island, Avalon, Ocean City, Stone Harbor and Atlantic City.
Beach Town Posters is a series of retro Art Deco prints that evoke the feel of vintage postcards and travel ads from American resort towns in the 1920s and ’30s. There are now 67 images completed in the collection, with many more on the horizon.
Grisanty, a Delaware resident originally from the Dominican Republic, says the Jersey shore gives him a wealth of artistic inspiration. His posters for New Jersey include depictions of a white heron in Stone Harbor (a nod to the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary) and the iconic wooden lifeguard boat in Avalon, known to generations of Garden State beachgoers.
“I understand that MTV wants ratings and that trashiness sells,” Grisanty says. “As someone who is not from New Jersey but has spent a great deal of time on the coast, I can tell you firsthand that Jersey Shore is not ‘reality.’ Of course there is a party element in some towns, but that’s a small part of what the Jersey Shore has to offer.
“It is my hope that the beauty, history, and uniqueness of the Jersey Shore will rise above the stereotypes portrayed on the show.”

DEMAND GROWS FOR BEACH TOWN POSTERS AS REINVENTED AMERICAN RESORT STYLES HIT RUNWAYS AND INTERIORS
OCEAN CITY, Md. — With turquoise named the “fashion color for 2010” and runways sporting garments inspired by vintage resort wear, forward-thinking fashion and interior designers are looking to the beaches of yesteryear for ideas.
The renewed interest in classic resort style has spiked a demand for Aurelio Grisanty’s Beach Town Posters, an original line of vintage-inspired Art Deco posters celebrating American beach towns. “We have had much more interest from the U.S. and overseas for Beach Town Posters,” said Grisanty’s business partner, Clare Conley. “In the past couple of months, we shipped prints to Europe, Canada and Australia.” Read More ...

A holiday message from Aurelio Grisanty to his fans:
I would like to thank you all for the incredible, enthusiastic response to the recent articles about Beach Town Posters. Not only has your feedback given me new energy to keep working, but it has traced a path for me to follow. Now I am eagerly creating many new images.
I have found fantastic beaches from which to draw inspiration, such as the beautiful Wrightsville Beach, the lighthouse in Cape Lookout, the incredible Sunset Beach pier, Emerald Isle, Ocean Isle, Holden Beach, and many others rich and splendid. Thanks to your suggestions, Beach Town Posters should have several new designs finished by Spring.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart — you make my work and life beautiful.

New Posters Hot Off The Press!
After Beach Town Posters was featured in McClatchy Newspapers across the United States this summer, we were excited to hear from so many people who love Aurelio's work. Suggestions poured in for us to add dozens more beach towns, and one fan even requested that Aurelio add mountain towns to the series! (Sorry, but we're BEACH Town Posters for now, though adding mountains and lakes is a great idea for later!)
Our latest additions to Beach Town Posters celebrate beaches in Florida and California! Check out the posters for Florida's Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Sanibel Island and Captiva Island; and Caliifornia's Laguna Beach, San Diego, and Santa Barbara.
We are thrilled to launch the Sanibel and Captiva Island posters at the luxury South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island. If you're longing for an amazing island getaway on Florida's western coast, consider a stay at this gorgeous resort and yacht club.

Inauguration Day

Sue Conley and Peggy Smith from The Cowgirl Creamery were kind enough to let us set up a Beach Town Posters stand in front of their shop on F Street. It was Inauguration Day 1-20-09 and we were a part of the positive energy buzzing throughout Washington D.C. The posters of the Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial were proudly displayed along with our red, white, and blue hula hoops, handmade soaps, and pocket angels. The iPod was in stereo playing Aretha Franklin, BB King, and a variety of Zydeco music. Passersby sang, danced, and picked up the hula hoops.

Beach Town Posters Releases Three Washington D.C. Posters
Inspired by the historic significance of Barack Obama's January 2009 inauguration as the 44th President of the United States, artist Aurelio Grisanty (Rail) has dedicated a series of classic Art Deco posters to Washington, D.C. monuments that honor exceptional American presidents. These memorials (Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Washington Monument) were built to commemorate the remarkable statesmen who presided over the nation's highest office in times of war, instability, uncertainty and financial crisis, and who inspired and led Americans into better times of hope, peace, prosperity, and change.
These presidential monuments are maintained and protected by the U.S. National Park Service.

Beach Town Posters - Hitting the Road
An LBI Poster was spotted among the flags, steaming crabs and 85 cousins at the BCL Family Reunion dinner in Long Beach Island late last summer. Gen. Mike Loh admired it so much that he traded his Bruce Springsteen ticket for a framed Kitty Hawk poster. (This actually happened.)
Beach Town Posters then traveled from LBI to South Carolina and Georgia to check out the fabulous beach towns featured in our series, and show off our new Savannah and Myrtle Beach posters. We’ve been talking with the new Paula Deen store in Savannah, located next door to the Lady and Sons Restaurant. We loved Savannah, loved the Paula Deen people, loved the beach scene at Myrtle Beach, and we loved being able to visit other cool places too: Charleston, Hilton Head, Pawleys Island, and Tybee Island. We highly recommend this road trip. You can spend time at all these amazing places within a week.

Beach Town Posters began 2008 eagerly awaiting the addition of new posters to the collection. In March, we traveled to Key West, Florida to celebrate the creation of two Key West posters.then stayed with old friends in St. Augustine to research the historic town and gain some new accounts. As we got closer to summer, more posters made their appearances including a Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach , and Clearwater Beach posters. In early summer, we took a trip to Corolla and continued all the way to Ocracoke Island. What a fascinating coast line the Outer Banks has! It’s been an exciting year so far and BeachTown posters looks forward to what the rest of the year will bring.
See you at the beach!
