Tybee Island

GEORGIA

Tybee Island
Once called "Savannah Beach," this scenic barrier island has made a name for itself due to its laid-back personality, seaside beauty, and interesting history, all of which attract a diverse mix of residents and visitors. It is home to the Tybee Island Light Station, the first light station on the southern Atlantic coast. The elegant, 154-foot-tall lighthouse is the fourth such navigational aid to stand at this location in more than 270 years.

VIRGINIA

Assateague Island
This uninhabited barrier island between Maryland and Virginia is best known as a wildlife habitat, and home to feral horse herds that have made Assateague famous. Of course, scientists, naturalists and animal enthusiasts are its most frequent guests. The federally protected Assateague Island sees more than 320 bird species throughout the year. Its horse population is kept at bay by the legendary Pony Swim & Auction every July, when Saltwater Cowboys round up some of the island's feral horses to sell.

Ocean City
Everyone knows Ocean City has some of the best bars and live-music spots along the East Coast. But its rockin' nightlife isn't the only thing that keeps visitors coming back. Commercial and sport fishermen leave Ocean City's docks every day for exceptional deep-sea and bay fishing. Families love the vast clean beaches, the historic carousel, and the boardwalk that was named among the "Top Three in the U.S." by The Travel Channel. As the "White Marlin Capital of the World," Ocean City hosts the White Marlin Open every August - the biggest fish lands its angler a cool $1 million.
