Duck

NORTH CAROLINA - OUTER BANKS

Duck
This village took its name from the flocks of migratory birds - and hundreds of other bird species - that annually seek haven here, a prime location on the Eastern Migratory Flyway. The annual Duck Jazz Festival is a huge draw, as are the cute shops and cafes that characterize the village.

NORTH CAROLINA - OUTER BANKS

Kitty Hawk
Maybe the Wright Brothers were inspired by the many species of migratory birds they saw flying up and down the coast of Kitty Hawk. They definitely appreciated the vast sand dunes of this tiny Outer Banks town, putting it into world history books as the location of the first powered airplane flight. Today, Kitty Hawk is popular not only as a lovely beach resort town, but as a home for aviation history and appreciation.

Ocracoke Island
Once a thriving fishing village, Ocracoke Island has become a 16-mile span of lush beaches accessible only by boat or plane. However, it has retained its quaint seafaring charm. Featured on the NBC Today Show as one of the "Top Five Beaches in the World," the island houses the Okracoke Lighthouse, the second-oldest operating lighthouse in the U.S.
